Role Purpose:

Mentoring and guiding the development team, the Development Team Lead will work with Project Managers and Product Managers to ensure that deliverables are met and are of high quality.


  • Lead new product development projects utilizing Our Customer’s systematic gate driven process from ideation all the way to commercialization and launch.
  • Focus on developing new modular products by utilizing your own technical knowledge, Our Customer’s existing technology platforms, along with outside technology and expertise.
  • Provide project definition, set clear objectives, establish time lines, solicit and secure required resources, execute project plan and publish monthly updates.
  • Establish SOW and project plans with team, internal or external.
  • Establish a cadence for project progress review and lead the team through issues utilizing effective problem solving techniques.
  • Contribute and participate in product trials and carry out feasibility studies.
  • Identify product validation requirements and lead the team through the steps.
  • Support the sales and marketing team in their activities towards commercialization of the developed product.
  • Support the launch team in the APQP process and launch activities.
  • Participate in project reviews & updates for upper management.


  • Technical University degree with a good understanding of material science, product development, and product engineering in manufacturing systems.
  • Six years’ experience in Product R&D, technical functions, manufacturing or process engineering, or program management.
  • Strong Managerial skills (team building, motivation, problem resolution, and organization).
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with customers, engineers, designers.
  • Strong technical aptitude, demonstrated innovation skills.
  • Project management skills and experience in successfully managing budgets/time lines is an asset.

  • Execute concepts & package study with 3D design and 2D drawings of headliner systems, package trays. load floors and interior components
  • Create drawing and apply GD&T, Critical and Significant Characteristics.
  • Generate BOM's, maintain open issues lists, DFMEA & PFMEA.
  • Conduct component tolerance studies and assembly stack evaluations.
  • Perform engineering calculations for mass, strengtn and performance.
  • Create interior components DVP&R test plan and DFMEA,s. Execute designs from the ground up incorporating all regulatory and customer performance requirements.
  • Identity and work with suppliers on performance and cost analysis of purchased components.
  • Prepare engineering documents, and coordinate with customer, suppliers, and assembly plants.
  • Coach/lead suppliers to successfully execute release activities.
  • Interface with Tier 1, OEM customers & component suppliers.
  • Track & Document Design Process Flow including DFMEA, Design Timelines, Virtual Model Reviews, Project Budget Estimation,      DPCR - Design Phase Completion Report, Great Plus - design management software, Financial Tracker, Collaboration Sessions,      Mfg. & Customer Design Gate Exits.
  • Work with lab technicians for validation testing related to OEM & FMVSS tests.
